N° 02 — Mechanism

How it
actually works.

KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a tripeptide representing the C-terminal sequence of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It is the minimal active fragment of α-MSH responsible for its anti-inflammatory properties, and it acts through melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R) signalling to suppress NF-κB activation — the master regulator of inflammatory cytokine production. KPV demonstrates significant potency in inflammatory models despite its small size, and unlike full-length α-MSH, it does not carry tanning/pigmentation activity (which requires the N-terminal tripeptide His-Phe-Arg-Trp).
