How it
actually works.

Melanotan-2 (MT-II) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analogue of α-MSH with a non-selective melanocortin receptor agonist profile — it activates MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, and MC5R. MC1R activation in melanocytes stimulates melanogenesis (eumelanin production), the primary research application in pigmentation science. MC4R activation in hypothalamic circuits is associated with sexual arousal pathways and appetite suppression in preclinical models.
