TB-500

Overview

TB-500 is a synthetic peptide fragment corresponding to the actin-binding domain of Thymosin Beta-4 (TB4), a naturally occurring 43-amino acid protein found in virtually all nucleated mammalian cells. The active sequence — LKKTETQ — is responsible for the majority of TB4’s regenerative activity.

Research Context

Thymosin Beta-4 and its fragments have been studied extensively in the context of tissue regeneration and wound repair. Research models have demonstrated accelerated healing of skin wounds, cardiac tissue protection following ischaemic injury, promotion of angiogenesis and neovascularisation, and anti-inflammatory activity through downregulation of inflammatory cytokines. TB-500’s ability to upregulate actin polymerisation is central to cell migration, a key mechanism in tissue repair. Studies in tendon and muscle injury models have also shown reduced fibrosis and improved structural recovery.

Oral Capsule Format

As a larger peptide fragment, TB-500 requires robust protection from gastric acid to reach the small intestine intact.
